Travel Tourettes from our Road Trips
We have been back from Florida for a fair few months now but a family holiday to Turkey and work keeping me extremely busy has seen Blogging the Road neglected and without updates. On the following few posts, I intend to post some pictures and videos and give a brief rundown of our Florida Keys trip for our 20th wedding anniversary.
After a busy few days in Vegas its time to head back to Route 66 and into California to the wigwam motel. We took a taxi back to McCarran airport to pickup our new hire car. We dropped off the car and picked it up three days later as it cut down the cost by a few quid as we weren’t paying for parking in Vegas and the taxes were less on the last leg of the journey.
Next on the list is a drive up Highway One to San Luis Obispo. We left Santa Barbara mid morning and headed out on the coastal road through a very nice looking estate. We were soon up on the cliffs overlooking the bay and after annoying an American woman
We spent today relaxing in Santa Barbara and around pool at the heavenly Franciscan Inn.
The town was a 20 minute walk from the hotel along the sea front and then up Stearn street so we took a leisurely wander after a light breakfast in the hotel lobby.
Today we drove from Lancaster to Anaheim with a slight detour into the heart of Los Angeles and Hollywood to do some sneaker shopping.
We spent today driving out of Yosemite National Park and heading to Mammoth lakes.
We left around 9am after a getting coffee and setting up the Go Pro on the front of the car and headed out to wind back up the other side of the valley to the Tioga Pass.
I will just give a quick summary of what we did today whilst we drove to the Yosemite national park as it was mainly driving, stopping to take photographs and being in awe of the countryside, mountains and wild life.
After three nights in San Francisco its time to say good bye to the golden city for a few weeks and head inland to Yosemite and start our road trip. Our stay at the Hotel Zephyr has been a good one.
Its been a long 24 hours of travel – bloody long !
Wednesday started at 3am with the drive up to Manchester airport. My dad kindly took us to the airport and the drive up went smoothly enough but on entering terminal 3 the brevity of the days travel suddenly sunk in. The queues for check in were huge and badly organised
