Akumal & Riviera Maya Holiday
Not every holiday needs to involve hundreds of miles, a carefully planned route or a different hotel every night. This time, we swapped the open road for ten wonderfully lazy days at an adults only, all-inclusive resort in Akumal on Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
There was no ambitious itinerary and no pressure to spend every day sightseeing. This was a holiday for slowing down, enjoying the sunshine, eating and drinking rather too well, and making the most of having absolutely nowhere we needed to be. We did venture beyond the resort occasionally, but much of our time was spent relaxing by the pool, wandering along the beach and generally doing very little, which was exactly the point.

Neither of us had snorkelled before, but the chance to swim with sea turtles in Akumal was too good to miss. What began with a little uncertainty became one of the most memorable experiences of our ten days in Mexico.
