There’s something special about the final days of any road trip — that bittersweet mix of satisfaction, tiredness and the realisation that the adventure is nearly over. The drive from Boston back towards New York City wasn’t the most dramatic leg of our journey, but it offered some of the most quietly beautiful moments from the passenger seat.
These are the miles where the buzz of Boston slowly fades into wooded backroads, coastal stretches and sprawling suburbs, before the unmistakable pull of New York begins creeping back onto the horizon. From hazy September sunshine on the highway to sleepy New England towns and bridges cutting through tree-lined valleys, this gallery captures the last look out of the window before our East Coast adventure came to an end.
We didn’t make many stops and we didn’t take as many photos on this final stretch, These images — snapped on the move, between coffees, conversations and sighs of fatigue — mark the end of our journey. A final glance at the road before home.
