A full index of every blog post from our 16-day East Coast USA road trip — covering New York City, Ithaca, Niagara Falls, Canada, Toronto, Boston, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, The Hamptons and beyond.
A reflective look at the final miles of our road trip — roadside Americana, forests, bridges and fading September light on the journey from Boston back to New York.
A shorter final chapter: leaving The Hamptons, hunting for a place to watch Forest’s European match, a visit to Long Beach and Valley Stream, and a business-class flight home to Derbyshire with A52 Executive Cars completing the journey.
A grey start didn’t stop us enjoying Montauk’s surf, Sag Harbor’s charm and the exclusive coastline of The Hamptons, topped off with one of the warmest evenings we’d had all trip.
A road-trip day full of contrasts: pancakes in a retro diner, a stop at the infamous Lizzie Borden House, a stunning afternoon in Mystic and a sunset ferry across Long Island Sound before a slightly chaotic arrival in Southampton.
We took the morning ferry from Falmouth to Martha’s Vineyard and spent the day exploring by convertible Mini. Jaws locations, gingerbread houses, lighthouses, beaches and some questionable coffee — a fun but surprising island experience.
Leaving Boston behind, we hugged the Massachusetts coastline through Hull and Plymouth before reaching Falmouth. Historic sights, English tea rooms, totem poles and tacos — a perfect New England day.
A sun-soaked day in Boston filled with history, humour and a touch of baseball. From bagels at Quincy Market to Fenway Park and pizza in the North End — Boston delivered another brilliant day on foot.
A day of history, walking and great food as we explored Boston’s Freedom Trail — from Paul Revere’s house to the USS Constitution, followed by authentic Italian dining in the city’s North End.
A day of contrasts — from peaceful forest drives through Vermont to the commercial chaos of Salem, before finally arriving in Boston. Great coffee, odd witches and a taste of the original Boston Cream Pie.
A gallery of roadside views between Toronto and Saratoga Springs — snapshots taken on the move by Deb, capturing the changing landscapes from Canada’s city skylines to America’s forested backroads.
Leaving Toronto behind, we followed Lake Ontario’s backroads through Oshawa, Cobourg and Belleville, stopping to explore historic Parkwood Estate and Kingston Mills Lockstation before ending the day in Gananoque with great food, beer and plenty of character.
After a lazy start in Toronto, we explored St Lawrence Market, the Distillery District and the CN Tower before ending the day at a Mexico Day festival with live music and tacos. A relaxed, sunny and vibrant day in Canada’s biggest city.
An unforgettable night in Toronto as Morrissey took to the Budweiser Stage. Part of our East Coast USA and Canada adventure — and proof that even Deb can enjoy a Moz gig when he’s at his best.
A rolling collection of roadside snapshots — barns, bridges, houses and highways — all taken on the move from the passenger seat. These are the in-between moments that connect the dots of our East Coast USA and Canada adventure from New York to Toronto
Leaving Niagara-on-the-Lake after breakfast on the veranda, we followed the backroads along Lake Ontario towards Toronto. Misty lakeside drives, apple fritters from Tim Hortons, and a night watching Morrissey at the Budweiser Stage made for one unforgettable day in Canada.
Day 4 of our East Coast USA road trip was a driving day in every sense — the kind where the journey itself becomes the highlight. We left Ithaca at first light, coffee and pastries in hand, ready to swap college-town calm for the open road and our first full day behind the wheel in earnest.
From the misty American viewpoints to the thunderous beauty of the Canadian side, our visit to Niagara Falls was unforgettable. Here’s what it’s like to see both perspectives of this legendary natural wonder — and why it deserves a place on every traveller’s list.
Day 3 marked the start of the driving leg of our East Coast USA adventure. After breakfast in Times Square and a reflective morning in New York, we picked up our hire car at JFK and drove north through forests, mountains and lakes to the pretty college town of Ithaca in the Finger Lakes.
A gloomy morning in Manhattan turned into another incredible day of food, shopping and exploring. From the grandeur of St Patrick’s Cathedral to steak and IPAs at Gallaghers, here’s how Day 2 of our East Coast USA road trip unfolded in New York City.
After weeks of planning, our East Coast USA road trip began with an early start, a smooth flight, and a full first day exploring New York City. From Times Square to Soho and Shake Shack in Madison Square Park, we hit 29,000 steps and soaked up every moment of Day One.
