After a late breakfast at the Old Town Manor, it was time once more to pack the car and hit the roads again. We enjoyed Key West but I’m not sure we will revisit. As nice as it was doing nothing but eating, drinking and wandering we couldn’t get over the fact it felt a little bit like America’s version of Benidorm, not quite that trashy but nevertheless a party town first and foremost.
We had three nights booked at the Old Manor House in Key West and the general idea was to wander the streets, pop in and out of shops and bars and generally chill out and relax. We sort of did that as it was too hot to do anything to hastily.
After an early breakfast at Casa Thorn we repacked our suitcases, threw them in the ample boot of the Mustang and said our goodbyes to Islamorada. Today we are driving Route 1 down to our next hotel in Key West.
We started the day with a freshly cooked breakfast in the Casa Thorn lobby. Freshly made quiche, bacon, waffles, muffins, fresh fruit and preserves were great and very tasty however the coffee was awful which made our first port of call when we got on the road a decent coffee shop.
We have been back from Florida for a fair few months now but a family holiday to Turkey and work keeping me extremely busy has seen Blogging the Road neglected and without updates. On the following few posts, I intend to post some pictures and videos and give a brief rundown of our Florida Keys trip for our 20th wedding anniversary.
